  Several residences inside the old quarter of Madaba joined to form the Madaba Archaeological Museum which houses mosaics from Madaba and its governorate at large. The museum is tucked away in a narrow alley, so it is not easy to find at first. The rooms host artifacts from several locations across the region covering all main historical periods including the Iron Age, Roman, Byzantine and Umayyad. This museum showcases a good collection of Moabite and Ammonite findings. The entry fee to this often overlooked museum is included in the combined ticket (3 JOD) that also covers Madaba's Archaeological Park as well as the Church of the Apostles. At the time of writing, there were plans to open a new archaeological museum closer to the center of Madaba in Dar as-Saraya next to the Catholic Church of St. John the Baptist. Therefore, the function of this older museum might change.
