  AES Corp.’s Amman East Power Plant achieved commercial operation in 2008 and was the first independent power plant in Jordan. This gas and oil fired 370-MW combined cycle plant was declared the ‘2013 Top Gas Plant’ by the business and technology magazine for Global Power Generation Industry – ‘Power’. The EPC contractor was Doosan Heavy Industries and Construction Co. Limited, Korea. Entire plant engineering was carried out by L&T-Sargent & Lundy, India. This plant has two V94.2 Ansaldo Energia SPA make gas turbines, two Doosan make heat recovery steam generators, one Fuji Electric make steam turbine, SPX made Air Cooled Condenser. The plant had received multiple awards, including the British Safety Award and a Top 10 power plant award for the Middle East and North Africa. The construction team received a Golden Hard Hat award in 2009 for delivering the generating plant on time (and, incidentally, $15 million under budget) with no lost time incidents recorded for the duration of the construction project.
